Mabel V. Savage, 90, of Sioux City died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at a Sioux City nursing home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Russell C. Senstad officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Moville, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mrs. Savage was born Nov. 4, 1911, in rural Lawton, Iowa, the daughter of Franklin B. and Edna S. (Couch) Lighthall. She graduated from Lawton High School in the early 1930s.

She married William A. Cornils on May 11, 1931, in Denison, Iowa. He died June 13, 1961. She married Lloyd E. Savage on Jan. 10, 1969. He died Aug. 2, 1999.

She moved from Bronson, Iowa, to Sioux City in 1941. She was employed with Cudahy's Packing Plant and later for Sage Food Service as a snack bar manager.

She was a member of Tri-State Coachman Club, and Redeemer Lutheran Church for 60 years, where she was active in the Ladies Circle.

Survivors include two daughters, Constance A. Andersen of Sioux City, and Nancee and her husband, Gene Luebbert of Knoxville, Iowa; a son, James M. Cornils of Dexter, Mich.; a brother-in-law and his wife, Clyde and Lilian Savage of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Maxine (Cornils) Gross of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; six sisters; a grandson, Bruce A. Andersen; a granddaughter, Carol F. Cornils; and a great-great-granddaughter, Jordyn Olson.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Douglas Andersen, Arles Andersen, Paul Andersen, Peter Cornils, Patrick Cornils and Steve Cornils. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Marsha Boykin, Jim Cornils Jr., Ann Edwards, Ruth Knuth, Chelsea Nash and Lutheran Nash.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Hospice of Siouxland.
