21 August 2002MOVILLE, Iowa -- Leta Faye Johnson, 96, of Moville died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Moville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harold E. Werley officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 9 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.
Mrs. Johnson was born Oct. 31, 1905, in Hinton, Iowa, the daughter of William John and Gertrude Elizabeth (Kistle) Barth. She attended rural schools in Plymouth County, Iowa.
She married Melvin R. Johnson on July 5, 1923. To this union two sons were born. One died in infancy, Rauley Melvin Johnson. She was employed for several years at the Moville Quick Lunch Cafe. Mr. Johnson died Aug. 1, 1966.
She was an active member of Moville United Methodist Church for many years and Moville Senior Citizens.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Bill and Faith Johnson of Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Gene and Betty Barth of Correctionville, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Darlene and John Mahrt of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Marall and Orville Barth.
Pallbearers will be Bill and Jerry Barth, Hal and Paul Johnson, Stanley Thomsen and Barry Tronchetti.
