Esther Spangler Collier, 98, of Sioux City died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at a Sioux City care center.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Arlington Township Cemetery in Moville, Iowa, with Chaplain Glen Houts of Hospice of Siouxland officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until noon on Tuesday at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.
Mrs. Collier was born Jan. 31, 1903, in Moville, the daughter of John and Anna (Williams) Northway. She graduated from Moville High School in 1923. She married Wadel E. Spangler on Dec. 26, 1923, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They farmed in the Moville area. He died Nov. 23, 1936, in Sioux City. She continued to farm until moving to Sioux City in 1965.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlene and her husband, Howard Beals of Lincoln, Neb., and Lyle Hagen of Rotonda West, Fla.; three grandchildren, Karen Gaines, Kim Myers and Lyle Beals; and four great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by an infant son.
