Blanche V. McKenzie, 78, of Sioux City died of cancer Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at her residence.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Whitfield Un-ited Methodist Church, with the Rev. Richard Kretzchmar officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cem-etery, Moville, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mrs. McKenzie was born March 8, 1922, in Stone, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Warren and Lydia (Fernquist) Park. She moved to Moville from Canada in June 1922, where she was raised by an aunt and uncle. She attended school in Kingsley, Iowa, where she graduated from high school.
She married Wallace F. McKenzie on July 8, 1939, in Kingsley. The couple made their home in Sioux City. She became a naturalized U.S. citizen in May 1947 in Sioux City. She was a homemaker. Her husband died April 17, 1993, in Sioux City.
She was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church and Martha Rachel Circle. She was active in the annual peanut brittle fund-raiser and enjoyed needle work.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Jim and Nancy of Sioux City; two daughters, Sharon and her husband, Robert Hopp, and Shirley McKenzie, all of Sioux City; four brothers, Art Park and his wife, Betty of Tayport Fife, Scotland, Harry Park of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, Canada, Laurence Park and his wife, Carol of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, and Harold Park and his wife, Irene of Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada; three sisters, Lenora McRobb of New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, Grace and her husband, Clarence Faber, and Mary Jane Girodat, all of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, Canada; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Warren; four brothers, Andrew, Cameron, Claude and Hue Park; and three sisters, Lucille Rose, Eveline Park and Yvonne Elliot.
