25 August 2010SIOUX CITY -- Marian Ellen Persinger, 78, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with Chaplain Cheri Johansen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Marian was born Feb. 3, 1932, in Sioux City, the daughter of Franklin and Ellen (Folk) Nelson.
She was married to Joe Persinger for 41 years. She was a directory assistance operator for Hughes Aircraft and then McDonald Douglas in Huntington Beach, Calif. She relocated to Sioux City in 1969, and later moved to Texas, where she retired from Southwestern Bell. In 2005, she returned to Sioux City to be with her family.
Marian loved playing cards and going out to eat. However, she cherished the time spent with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Her dog, Benji, also meant the world to her.
She is survived by her four children, Susan Jones of Sioux City, Randy Persinger of South Sioux City, Debra Persinger of Sioux City, and Scott Persinger of Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Holly Wright, Jett Jones, Krista Kaylor, Lisa Coffman, Aaron Thompson, Brittany Griffin, Cassie Snoderlay and Cody Persinger; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Teresa Michalski; and a grandson, Jason Persinger.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Thompson, Cody Persinger, Ronald Kleckner, Jett Jones, Travis Hernandez and Gene Persinger.
