SIOUX CITY -- Inez Marjorie Peterson-McDonell, formerly of Sioux City passed away peacefully in her sleep on Aug. 12, 2010.

Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at Grimes Funeral Chapel, 1214 Mulberry, Bandera, Texas. The family invites you to send condolences at www.grimesfuneralchapels.com by selecting the Send Condolences link.

Inez was born June 12, 1912, to George Alfred Peterson and Ruth Wagner, in Sioux City. Inez moved from Omaha, Neb., to Pipe Creek, Texas, in 1996, after she became widowed, to live near her daughter, Marlene and her grandchildren.

Inez was a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), a lifetime member of the VFW, served as madam president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Omaha, Neb., served as president of the Omaha Transportation Club and was a member of the National Arbor Day Foundation. She worked in an office all of her adult life as a comptometer operator and later became proficient on the computer. She traveled to Europe and Chile several times visiting her adult children.

Inez enjoyed traveling, crocheting, knitting, cribbage and playing pool. She played her last games of pool in 2009 with close friends and was often the winner. She especially loved playing the card game of cribbage. In fact on the evening of Aug. 10, 2010, she played her last cribbage game with one of her grandsons and won the game.

Inez is survived by her sister, Georgia Audrey Rhoad; sons, Monte Laurie (Beth) Pettit and David Thomas Pettit; daughter, Marlene Pettit-Heavner (Matthew); 17 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; eight-plus great-great grandchildren; and her three dogs, Muffy, Lucky and Benji.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Chester Peterson; son, Dean Wesley Pettit; and husband, Ralph McDonell.

Inez had asked that memorial donations be made to CCPAL, PO Box 2200, Bandera, TX., 78003 to support the many animals that need care and forever homes.

The family would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to the many friends and groups who have made our sweet mother's life so full of love and fellowship. We would also like to especially thank the Hospice people who helped us through this most difficult time.
