SIOUX CITY -- May Weidert, 90, of Sioux City died Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Torey Lightcap and Deacon Patricia Johnson of St. Thomas Episcopal Church officiating. Private graveside services will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. May was born Oct. 17, 1919, in Manchester, England, the daughter of John Thomas and Edith Young.

She married Eugene J. Weidert on July 23, 1944, in Cheshire, England. He died in 2000. She came to the United States as a war bride. She resided in Sioux City the majority of her life.

She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her daughter, Sandra, whom she cared for all her life.

Survivors include a son, Gene Weidert and his wife, Joan of Westminster, Colo.; two daughters, Sandra Weidert of Sioux City and Carol Gasich and her husband, Steve of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Weidert, Gregory Weidert, Lisa Avila and her husband, Chris, Steven Gasich and his wife, Amanda, Kristen Mandrell and her husband, Gary and Shanen Gasich; five great-grandchildren, Connor Mandrell, Claudia Mandrell, Tristan Avila, Tyler Avila and Tyrin Weidert; and her cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene; a brother; and a sister.
