Saul "Negro" Quintero 1967-2010

SIOUX CITY -- Saul "Negro" Quintero, 42, of Sioux City passed away Aug. 2, 2010, at his residence surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Community of Christ Church, 3232 Transit Avenue. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Saul was born Oct. 28, 1967, in Tecate, Baja, Calif., to Oswaldo and Cristina Quintero. He attended school and worked as a laborer in California until his move to Sioux City in 2004.

Saul had a great sense of humor and was always laughing and joking. His favorite things were spending time with the family watching movies, fishing, riding his Harley and working in his yard. He was an avid fan of all sports, but especially enjoyed watching the Steelers and Lakers play.

He will forever be remembered as a brave man who overcame many obstacles in his life and always thought of family first.

Survivors include his partner in life of 19 years, Dawn Deem; two children, Jasmine and Brandon Quintero; his mother, Cristina Quintero; two brothers, Hugo and Hector Quintero; four sisters, Leticia (Amado) Sahagun, Sylvia (Edward) Marquez, Rosa Quintero and Elizabeth Quintero; and 30 nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oswaldo; his brother, Oswaldo Jr.; and his sister, Naomi.
