SIOUX CITY -- Wilbur Dixon, 80, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Sept. 29, 2010.

Wilbur lived many years in Sioux City. He graduated from Central High School and remained a member of the Castle on the Hill Association. He sang for many years in the Nordic Chorus, directed church choirs and sang solos in churches. Wilbur was the owner of The Top Shop, a countertop and cabinet business in Sioux City until 1997.

Wilbur and Marie Mattson were married at Third Presbyterian Church on March 15, 1952. The couple moved to California in 1987. They managed apartments in Santa Rosa, Calif., until 1997, when they retired to their RV.

They traveled extensively during this time (taking their honeymoon 45 years later), and volunteered in various parks, museums and lighthouses. They spent much of their time traveling back and forth between Florida, Nevada, California and Oregon, visiting with all four of their children and 11 grandchildren along the way. The travels came to a stop when his wife was diagnosed and later died of terminal cancer. Since then, Wilbur has been on Hospice care twice, and discharged from Hospice care twice because he kept living beyond medical projections.

Wilbur is survived by three sons, Jeff, Brad and Roger Dixon; a daughter, Kathy Crawford; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial has been established in his name at Willamette Valley Hospice. Contributions may be made to his memorial c/o Kathy Crawford, 800 Abbey Lane, Aumsville, OR. 97325.
