SIOUX CITY -- Charles Carnes, 68, of Broomfield, Colo., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, in Broomfield.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Sloan Cemetery, Sloan, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Charles was born June 21, 1942, in Onawa, Iowa. He attended school in Sloan until moving to Sioux City in 1959. He graduated from Central High School in June 1960.

He went to work at Kaplan Wholesale until 1962, when he went into the U.S. Army for two years. He was stationed most of his time in Okinawa. After the service, he went to work at the Sioux City Post Office as a rural carrier for 28 years. He moved to Colorado in July 2000. He worked at the Broomfield and Eagle View Post Offices until his retirement.

He was a member of Christian Church in Broomfield. He was a member of the Postmaster of Landmark Lodge in Sioux City. He was a past member of the Abu Bekr Shrine and York Rite Consistory in Sioux City.
