SIOUX CITY -- Duane L Bolles, 83, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., followed by a Masonic service, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Duane was born the son of Clyde R. and Adelia (Skimmerhorn) Bolles on July 22, 1927, in Correctionville, Iowa. He received his schooling in Correctionville and Cushing, Iowa.

Duane married Shirley Van Vliet on May 23, 1954, in Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the 1st Marine Corps Air Wing in the Korean War. Duane worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier and also was a development center training technician before retiring in 1987. He was a flight instructor at the Sioux City Municipal Airport and taught an aeronautical course at WIT.

He was a member of the Siouxland Remote Control Modelers, Masonic Lodge Landmark 103, American Legion 624 Cushing Chapter and First United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Abu Bekr Shrine.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Association.
