HORNICK, Iowa -- Jane L. O'Boyle, 80, Wheeling, Ill., formerly of Hornick passed away Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at Embassy Rehabilitation Care Center at Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.

A memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at St. John's Catholic Church at Onawa, Iowa, with Father Patrick O'Kane as celebrant. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery at Holly Springs, Iowa.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service at Onawa, Iowa.

Jane was born July 17, 1930, at Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas D. and Olive (Metcalf) O'Boyle. She was raised at Hornick, Iowa, and graduated from Hornick High School in 1948.

She furthered her education at Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls, Iowa, and received her B.S. degree in education. Jane taught high school at Akron High School for two years and then pursued her career as a flight attendant at Trans World Air Lines. She had a very interesting career with flights to many countries. She retired 22 years ago after 35 years with TWA but stayed active as a member of the training board of directors. She had the honor of serving on one of five chartered planes from Kansas City to follow the Chiefs in the first Super Bowl game.

Jane was a former member of St. Phillip Catholic Church at Hornick. She was also an active member of the Flight Attendants Union.

Survivors include two brothers, Dan O'Boyle of Hornick and Thomas and his wife, Connie O'Boyle, of Fremont, Neb.; and two nephews, Michael O'Boyle of Mexico City, Mexico, and Tommy of Omaha, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mollie O'Boyle.
