SIOUX CITY -- Mildred Paul, 83, of St. Joseph, Mo., former resident of Sioux City, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at the Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen, Iowa, surrounded by her loved ones.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Meierhoffer Funeral Home in St. Joseph, Mo. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mildred Paul was born April 24, 1927, in Yankton, S.D., the daughter of Lester P. Holt and Edna (Larson) Holt. Her family moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where she was a member of Wesley Methodist Church and attended school in Leeds.

On Sept. 19, 1946, she married Charles Paul at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She was a sales clerk at Montgomery Wards and Younkers in Sioux City, and a member of the Azure Chapter of the Eastern Star. Her husband was manager of the A & P Grocery Store in Sioux City, and was transferred to Maryville, Mo. Mildred was a receptionist for medical doctors and a member of the Business and Professional Woman's Club.

During retirement, they joined the Good Sam Trailer Club and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. They spent the winters in Harlingen, Texas, as snow birds in the Rio Grande Valley. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren always brought a sparkle to her eye. She loved to do crafts and baking. She was a member of the Ashland Methodist Church in St. Joseph. In June 2010, she and her husband became residents of the Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen.

Survivors are her husband, Charles Paul of St. Joseph; a son, Richard and his wife, Lynn of Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter, Gena Aalbers and her husband, Mike of Alton, Iowa; grandchildren, Brian Paul and his wife, Inga; Melissa Bright and her husband, Josh; Barry and Courtney Paul; Mitch Aalbers and his wife, Monica; Breanne Niebuhr and her husband, Kurt; and Jessica Vande Hoef and her husband, Eric; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Grant, Parker and Vivien Paul, Ryan Niebuhr, Davis and Hudson Bright, Kate VandeHoef and Caleb Aalbers; two sisters, Shirley Roehrick of Sioux City, and Phyllis Krause, of Le Mars, Iowa; a brother, Lester Holt of Tucson, Ariz.; stepbrothers, John Meier of Sioux City, and Gene Meier of California; and a half-brother, Don Holt of Sioux City.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice.
