SIOUX CITY -- Peter K. Hodges, 51, of Sioux City died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn., due to complications from a motorcycle accident.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gary McDonough, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus, Iowa. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Peter was born on June 20, 1959, in San Pedro, Calif., son of Clarence L. and Shirley A. (Dudak) Hodges. The family came to Sioux City from Oregon in 1962. Peter attended Sioux City schools and then went to W.I.T. to get his certification in refrigeration engineering. He served in the U.S. Army from 1979 to 1981.

He was employed as a truck driver for most of his career. He drove for Marx Trucking, Schuster Trucking Co., Kent Feeds and The Jebro Co. He also did carpentry work, did pipe installation and owned the Two P. Company. His last job was as a heavy equipment operator for Headwaters, Inc.

Peter was a member of labor union 234. He enjoyed most all sports, especially football, baseball and NASCAR. He was a big Green Bay Packers fan. Peter was a free rider, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Survivors include his mother, Shirley A. Hodges and stepfather, Charles Grantham of Marcus; three sons, Peter K. Hodges Jr., Daniel John Hodges and Chris Yanak, all of Sioux City; two daughters, Brenda S. Gergen and her husband, Rick of Paullina, Iowa, and Sarah J. Hoffman of Sioux City; his fiancee, Cyndi Miens of Sioux City; two stepdaughters, Amber Sitzmann and her husband, Chad of Lawton, Iowa, and Sara Miens of Sioux City; his brother, Dennis D. Hodges and Jodie Auen of Marcus; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence L. Hodges; three brothers, Clarence L. Hodges Jr., Robert B. Waters and Bruce Allan Hodges; a stepson, Dustin J. White; his wife, Pam Hodges; maternal grandparents, Peter (Pioter) Dudak and Racheal Johnson; and paternal grandparents, Kenneth Hodges and Alta (Brubecker) Hodges.

Pallbearers will be Pat Johnson, Kyle Hodges, Jessie Duerksen, Nick Spotten, Paul Meyer and Dennis Hodges. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Duerksen, Chris Hanner, Matt Johnson, Pat Folkers and Kevin Johnson.
