SIOUX CITY -- Kenneth Fred Lueck, 84, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at a local hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Luke Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Cox officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, rural Talmage, Neb. Visitation with the family will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 5 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.

Kenneth was born March 3, 1926, in Talmage, Neb., to Fred Emil and Marie F. (Grundman) Lueck. He was baptized and confirmed at Evangelical Orthodox in Talmage. He graduated from Talmage High School in 1944.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952, earning the rank of corporal. He spent one year in Colorado before obtaining employment on various farms and feedlots in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa, the first being with Albert Schasht of Cook, Neb., and the last as foreman at Frese Farm and Feedlot for 13 years in Wayne, Neb. He retired and moved to Sioux City in 1992.

Kenneth married Katherine Hardick in October 1953. In addition to Katherine's four children, the couple had two children together. This marriage ended in 1985.

Kenneth married Darlene Olson-Haindfield on Sept. 16, 1992, and moved to Sioux City and later to Sergeant Bluff.

He became a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in 1992, and was active on the social ministry and property committees. He became a member of South Sioux City Eagles Club in 1991. Although he was not on any committees, he was active in helping keep up the property for several years.

Kenneth enjoyed farming and cattle feeding and after retirement, spent most of his time in the garden. He enjoyed giving flowers and extra produce to friends, neighbors and rest homes. He also enjoyed dancing, playing cards and observing the many wonders of nature that God created in this wonderful world.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene; a daughter, Mary Lueck of Lincoln, Neb.; a son, Steve Lueck of San Francisco, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Sally Mastel (Greg) of Pacific Junction, Iowa, and Alice Saunders of Jaffery, N.H.; two stepsons, Michael Hardick of Omaha, and Robert Hardick (Karen) of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a sister, Margaret Lueck of Longmont, Colo.; Darlene's children, Carolyn Clausen (Darold) of York, S.C., Mark Haindfield (Julie) of Sloan, Iowa, Marlin Haindfield of New Orleans, La., Barton Haindfield of Denver, Colo., Terry Haindfield (Kristi) of Highlandville, Iowa, and Rene Haindfield (Sherry) of Sioux City; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Rita Goodson, Ethel Utley and Lu Ella MachCluskey.
