SIOUX CITY -- Katherine L. "Kay" Knight, 100, a native of Sioux City died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, in Chicago.

Private services will be held. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Miss Knight was the daughter of the late William H. and Anna J. (Cowan) Knight. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1928 and attended Trinity College of Commerce, where she was on the first ever women's basketball team. She later graduated from Northwestern University School of Business. She pursued a career in Chicago and was one of the first women to work in radio and TV advertising. During her later life, she worked in real estate and retired from Wirtz Corporation at the age of 86.

She is survived by her loving nieces and nephew, Mary Jean (Sam) Sears of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Kay (Kyas) Banks of Chicago, Mary (Kyas) Harrity of California, and Henry Kyas Jr. of Des Plaines, Ill.; her beloved grandniece and grandnephews, Don (Denise) Sears of Coeur d'Alene, Pamela Sears of Portland, Ore., and David (Sarah) Banks of Lincolnshire, Ill.; and her darling great-grandniece, Isabel E. Banks of Lincolnshire.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Edward, Ethyl (Harvey) Cardwell, Margaret, Charles, Vincent and Florence (Henry) Kyas; and her grandparents, Patrick and Mary (McClean) Cowan of Le Mars, Iowa.
