SIOUX CITY -- Russell R. "Dick" Smith, 75, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nea Huggins officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Dick was born Feb. 24, 1935, in Sioux City, to Melvin and Virge (Cunningham) Smith.

Dick was married to Maribel Pence in 1956 in Elk Point, S.D. He worked at Champion Box Factory until his retirement in 1987.

Dick was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a past assistant leader for the Boy Scouts of America. Dick enjoyed working, watching NASCAR, bowling and camping in his younger years and watching his grandkids race go-carts.

He is survived by his wife, Maribel Smith of Sioux City; four sons, Russell E. (Donna) Smith of Camdenton, Mo., Ronald (Lea) Smith of Gilbert City, Ariz., Jeffrey Smith of Sioux City, and Scott (Marlene) Smith of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Josh, Jeffery, Wesley and Austi; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Aryaonia; a sister, Judy (Earl) Bowman of South Sioux City; a brother, Chuck (Tim) Smith of Sioux City; and a brother-in-law, Gary (Fran) Pence of North Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Vernon, Don and Melvin "Chico"; and a sister, Alma.
