SIOUX CITY -- Glen A. Green, 83, of Grand Island, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, died June 2, 2010, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.

Mr. Green was born April 7, 1927, in Oto, Iowa, to Barney and Ethel (Benton) Green. He grew up and received his education in the Oto area. He entered the U.S. Army on June 28, 1945, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 5, 1947. He re-entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 22, 1952, and was discharged on Jan. 21, 1955. He was stationed in Korea and Alaska. Upon his return, he farmed for a period.

He was married to Mable Donahue on Sept. 20, 1972, in Las Vegas, Nev. He was employed with Swift and Co. in Sioux City. He moved to Grand Island in 1968. He later worked for Monfort and retired in 1987.

He was a member of the American Legion, the Eagles and the Liederkranz.

He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Bev Jackson of Storm Lake, Iowa; two grandchildren; a stepson, Thomas Donahue of Hurst, Texas; and a sister, Catherine Chedester of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Roger Jackson; six brothers, Bob, William, Harold, Marvin, Dale and Guiles Green; and three sisters, Rosaline Blume, and Patricia and Delores Heath.
