SLOAN, Iowa -- Nadine A. Mook, 72, of Sloan, formerly of Salix, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 306 Buckley Street, in Sloan, with the Rev. Richard Moore officiating. Burial will be held a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery at Salix. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Pearson and Wood Funeral Homes in Onawa and Sloan. Online condolences may be made at www.pearsonwoodwillman.com.

Nadine Ann Mook, daughter of Carl Harold and Nanny Aktavia (Swedeburg) Olson, was born July 26, 1938, in Sioux City, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Hinton, Iowa, and graduated from Hinton High School.

On June 16, 1962, Nadine was united in marriage to James Dean Mook at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Thomas, Timothy and Terrie. The family made their home in Salix, and Nadine was a homemaker. She continued making her home in Salix, until James passed away. She then moved to Sloan in 2000.

Nadine enjoyed cooking and attending church activities. She will be remembered for her wonderful chicken and noodles.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Thomas Mook of Sheldon, Iowa, Timothy Mook of Sioux City, and Terrie Mook of Sloan; one granddaughter, Sydney Mook of Sloan; two sisters: Vivian Comstock of Omaha, Neb., and Ellen (LaVonne) Rose of Sioux City; one brother, Robert Olson of Elkmont, Ala.; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Nanny Olson; husband, James Mook; five sisters; and two brothers.
