SIOUX CITY -- John F. Niemeier, 76, formerly of Sioux City died peacefully Nov. 28, 2010, in California following complications from a recent surgery.

Memorial services will be May 7, 2011, at Faith Bible Church, Robins, Iowa.

John was born Jan. 20, 1934, in Sioux City, to Ralph and Edith (Archer) Niemeier. He grew up there and graduated from Central High School. He received his bachelor of science degree in business from the University of Colorado in 1956. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958. He worked at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids as a computer programmer for many years.

John married Jane Seely on June 20, 1970, in Burlingame, Calif. They lived for 32 years in the Cedar Rapids area.

He loved his family and friends and was particularly proud of his daughters and grandchildren. He was a great husband and father. He served many volunteer hours as treasurer for Faith Bible Church. He enjoyed playing tennis and golf.

Survivors include his wife, Jane of Redwood Shores, Calif.; daughters, Lisa (Rob) Bates of Burlingame, Calif., Susan Niemeier of Chicago, Karen (Nikolai) Rochnik of San Mateo, Calif., Robin Niemeier of San Carlos, Calif.; a sister, Jeanne (Bill) LeBuhn of Devon, Pa.; grandchildren, Monica Bates, Sidney Rochnik, Max Rochnik, and Anneliese Morarity; brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Ann Ramsey of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be given in John's memory to Faith Bible Church, 95 South Mentzer Road, Robins, IA. 52328 or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (Fort Worth chapter) in memory of John to Honor his grandniece (www.cff.org).
