James T. “Tal” Adams, 72, Sloan, Iowa, passed away Thursday morning February 10, 1983 in the hospital in Onawa after a long illness.

He was born July 28, 1910, in Sparta, North Carolina to William and Gincie Shupe Adams. He moved to the Sloan area with his family at the age of 10 and has been a resident of the area ever since.

On May 21, 1932, he was united in marriage to Edith A. Copple at Elk Point, South Dakota. He was a truck driver, school bus driver for 11 years, and sexton at the Sloan Cemetery.

Survivors include; his father, Bill, Whiting, his wife; Edith, Sloan; one daughter, Mrs. Norman (Linda) Rowland, Westminister, Colorado; one son, Roger Adams, Leaf River, Illinois; two sisters, Clyde Hughes, Froid, Montana and Thelma Irish, Sloan, Iowa, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, two brothers and one daughter.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 1983, at the Wood Funeral Chapel at Sloan with Rev. Edward Moberg officiating. The organist was Mrs. Wilbur Ray.

Bearers were Steve Noble, Ken Noble, Jim Noble, Ray Copple, Ira Copple and Morey Copple.

Interment was in the Sloan Cemetery with arrangements by the Wood Funeral Home of Sloan, Iowa.
