SIOUX CITY -- Terry Howard Gould, a.k.a. T. Howard Gould, 53, of Sioux City passed away peacefully Sunday, June 7, 2009, at his home with loved ones by his side.

A year ago, according to his wishes, cremation took place. Memorial services will be 10:30 am. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Internment will be at a later date in Cedar Cemetery, Larrabee, Iowa.

Terry was born Sept. 11, 1955, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Howard D. and Margaret E. (Kelly) Gould. The family moved to Sioux City when Terry was in grade school. Terry graduated from North High School in May 1974. He worked for the Community Action Agency, J.C. Penney camera department, Harold's Photo Center and finally UPS.

When he wasn't working, he spent hours doing anything photography-related. His passion for nature and animals was forever present in his photos. In 1988, having earlier been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, Terry retired.

He continued with his photography until he became a quadriplegic in 1994. He faced his paralysis with valor and an undefeatable desire to continue living. Terry was always up for anything; concerts (except for Neal Diamond), theatre, lunch, a movie or grocery shopping.

Gratitude and appreciation of the small things was a lesson easily learned from Terry. His beautiful blue eyes would light up as an expression of delight for friends visiting, a Dairy Queen Mister Misty, the smell of fresh flowers, a friend reading to him or a new T-shirt from concerts or someone else's travels.

Terry is survived by the love of his life, Cynthia "Urbie" Urbanos; his sisters, Suzanne (Skip) Lawrence of Fort Collins, Colo., and Debra (Stephen) Clouten of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Timothy Gould of Mount Pleasant, N.C.; a niece, Samantha Clouten; five nephews, Christopher Clouten, Aaron, Johnathon and R. Joshua Gould and Nicholas Lawrence; and his special adoptive family and caregivers, Papa Joe Urbanos; sisters, Lisa M. Urbanos of Sioux City and Tracy (Alan) Urbanos-McCoy of Menlo Park, Calif.

Terry was preceded in death by his beloved parents; his special adoptive mom, Marian L. Urbanos; and his fur balls, Chubba and Muggie.

His zany sense of humor and amazing smile will be truly missed.
