SIOUX CITY -- Louis C. Lammers, 81, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point, S.D.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at Riverside United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Janice Bennett officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Louis was born Aug. 5, 1928, in Sioux City, to Louis B. and Aletha B. (Dutton) Lammers. He grew up in the Sioux City area. He attended Sioux City schools and graduated from Central High School. He served in the U.S. Navy.

On Dec. 15, 1954, he married Sharon Moore. She passed away April 9, 2004, in Sioux City. He was employed with I.P.S. for 30-plus years. He retired in 1987.

He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. His enjoyments in life were fishing, hunting, woodworking and hunting for mushrooms.

Survivors include his children, Ricky Paul and Terry Hargraves of Houston, Texas, Lanny and Nancy Lammers of Sibley, Iowa, Terry Lammers of Sioux City, Sherri and Greg McKenzie of Jefferson, S.D., and Kelly and Tracy Jerdee of Sioux City; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Paul and Barbara Lammers of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a granddaughter, Jullian Ida Lammers; and a sister, Louise Wilcox.
