23 June 2010.SIOUX CITY -- Shirley J. Duckett, 74, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010, at a local hospital.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David N. Zirpel officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to meyerbroschapels.com.
Shirley, the daughter of Henry and Katherine (DeKruif) Dolphin, was born Oct. 28, 1935, in Hospers, Iowa. She received her schooling in Sioux City, graduating from East High School.
She worked as a food nutritionist at the Woodbury Community Action Agency for several years, before marrying Charles Duckett on July 16, 1983, in Sioux City.
Shirley loved to camp and fish. She also liked to sew with her daughter, Jeri. She loved traveling to spend time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Duckett of Sioux City; two sons, Michael (Vicki) Richardson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Rick (Lori) Richardson of Washington, N.C.; a daughter, Jeri (John) Nelson of Sioux City; two stepsons, Charles (Linda) Duckett and Steven Duckett, all of Lead, S.D.; a brother, Robert (Jeannie) Dolphin of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Romaine; two stepsons, David and Brian; and a sister, Coriene.
Memorials may be made in Shirley's name to Floyd Valley Hospital for the new Le Mars, Iowa Dialysis Center, 714 Lincoln Street, N.E., P.O. Box 10, Le Mars, IA. 51031, attention Mike Donlin. Checks need to be made payable to LADS.
