25 June 2010SIOUX CITY -- Paul L. "Ted" Keegan, 82, of Sioux City passed away Monday, June 21, 2010, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Martha Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites. Condolences may be sent online to meyerbroschapels.com.
Paul was born May 1, 1928, in Sioux City, the son of James J. and Seville M. (Rancipher) Keegan. He was a lifelong Sioux City resident, except for serving eight years with the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korea in the Pacific Theater. He was a 50-year-plus member of the American Legion.
On Feb. 27, 1954, he married LaVonne A. "Bonnie" Jones in Sioux City. Ted was employed with Wonder Bread before working in sales with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. He then worked for Kitty Clover Snack Food for 23 years.
In earlier years, the couple enjoyed camping and wintered in Texas for 17 years. They belonged to both the local and national Holiday Ramblers Club. They also were involved with the South Bottoms committee. He was a member of the Church of All Nations. He enjoyed making beautiful stained glass lamps and sun catchers.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; three children and their spouses, Ricky and Mary Keegan of Sioux City, Deb and Bill Motz of San Antonio, Texas, and Randy and Charlene Keegan of Sioux City; four grandsons, Paul Keegan, James and Nicole Keegan, Ben and Holly Keegan and Jacob Keegan, all of Sioux City; three great-grandsons, Calen, Kooper and Randy; his special friend, Precious; a sister and her husband, Sandra and Elmer DeVries of Sioux City; and a brother and his wife, Robert and Elaine Keegan of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin daughters; a sister, Darlene; and a brother, James.
Pallbearers will be Paul, Jacob, James and Ben Keegan, Floyd Johnson and John Mays. Honorary pallbearers will be Kooper, Calen and Randy Keegan and Precious.
Memorials may be made in his name to Hospice of Siouxland or Church of All Nations.
