SIOUX CITY -- June "June Bug" Zimmer, 90, of Sioux City joined her husband Eugene "Gene" Zimmer; her parents Floyd and Mina Creamer; her brothers Dick and Don; her sisters Ruth Michalosky, Mable Scott, Dorothy Vogt and Ethel Crow; her best friend Harold Stokes, and her dear granddaughter Stacie Zimmer, in a joyful reunion with the heavenly Father on Friday, June 25, 2010. After 90 years of helping and caring for others, her work here is finished and her best friend has taken her home. Her family is thankful for being able to share her love for so long. We rejoice in knowing she is happy and at rest.

Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Jesse Dupree officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to meyerbroschapels.com.

Mom was born June 30, 1919 in Sioux City. She married Gene Zimmer on Oct. 11, 1941 in Elk Point, S.D. Dad passed away on April 11, 1971 in Sioux City. They raised their son Donnie and their daughter Debbie together. Mom was a stay-at-home mom where they lived in Leeds for 28 years. After Dad's death, she went to work at her son's business, Creative Carpets. She loved helping customers select their carpet and always made them a special price. She soon was nicknamed the berber queen and Mrs. Z of Creative Carpets.

Mom loved spending time with her family and her many friends, her dear and closest friend Marion Remer, but above all, her grandchildren Kristopher Martin, Robbie Zimmer, Marci Holzwarth, and only three months ago was given the gift of her only great-granddaughter Alyssa Nicole Zimmer.

Mom had many hidden talents, one including writing poems about her family and friends. When she was younger her softball team, the Blue Valley Girls Softball, won the city championship. Mom and Dad loved taking Donnie and Debbie to Okoboji every year until they were adults.

Donnie loved taking mom for rides in his car, and they would listen to Elvis songs for hours. Debbie's special time was going to her house for morning coffee and sharing special chats just between the two of them. She also was a huge Dodgers Fan and named her kitty Dodger. Darla was Dodger's sister and they were her pride and joy.

Mom was the last of her family. She is survived by her son Donnie Zimmer; daughter Debbie Martin and her fiance Bob Stark; her grandchildren Marci Holzwarth and her husband Josh, Kristopher Martin and Robbie Zimmer; great-granddaughter Alyssa Nicole Zimmer; niece Trudy Michalosky; nephew Terry Michalosky; and a host of friends who will miss her dearly.

Pallbearers will be Jesus Padilla, Sergio Galarza, Ruben Gonzalez, Bob Schoenrock and Dennis Decelle.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
