SIOUX CITY -- Lillian Maxine (Pinney) Bell, 81, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 27, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Crescent Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Scott Squires officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Maxine was born May 2, 1929, in Sioux City, to Marion and Lydia Eveline (Deaton) Pinney. She graduated from Central High School. She worked as a meat wrapper for Bellas Hess for 10 years, National Food for five years and Safeway for five years. She was a company manager for the Red and White Store in North Carolina. She also owned and operated Personal Touch Home Services for more than 20 years.

She was a 42-year member of the American Business Women's Association. She was a member of the Hawkeye Chapter, War Eagle Chapter, Senior SOOS Chapter and the Meat Wrapper's Union. She was a member of Crescent Park United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the Hannah Circle Crescent Park Women's Church circle and numerous other groups and organizations. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, her dogs, and fixing her home. She also volunteered every year at the Red Cross Tour of Homes at Christmas time.

She is survived by three children, James Donald Cowell of Sioux City, Susan Louise Cowell of Sioux City and John Kenneth (Teresa) Bell of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Matt (Ammie) Bell, Clayton Bell, Heather Bell, Beau Cowell, and Destine "CJ" Cowell; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Kellen Bell; four brothers, LeRoy (Marlene) Pinney and Richard (Nancy) Pinney, both of Sioux City, Ronald (Carol) Pinney of Burlington, Iowa, and Dennis (Janene) Pinney of North Sioux City; and two lifelong friends, Lynn Haugen and Virginia Parmelee, both of Sioux City.
