Mrs. William Adams of Sloan, Iowa, died on May 17, 1982 at Burgess Memorial Hospital at Onawa, Iowa. Death came at the age of 90 years 8 months and 13 days.
Born Gincie Ann Shupe on September 4, 1891, at Independence, Virginia, she was the daughter of James Shupe and Ruth Farmer Shupe. She was married to William Adams on September 27, 1909, at Sparta, North Carolina. The couple came to the Sloan area in 1920. They celebrated their 72nd Wedding Anniversary last September. Gincie had resided at Pleasant View Nursing Home at Whiting the past four years.
Survivors are her husband, William at Pleasant View at Whiting; one son, James T. Adams, of Sloan; two daughters, Mrs. Zella Clyde Hughes of Froid, Montana and Mrs. Thelma Irish of Sloan; one sister, Mrs. Mae Peterson of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, William Lyle Adams and Patrick Adams.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 1982, at the First Christian Church, Sloan, Iowa, with Rev. Steven Rice and Rev. Edward Moberg officiating. The organist was Mrs. Wilbur Ray and the vocalists, Mrs. Harold Nelson and Mrs. Wilbur Ray sang, “In The Garden” and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.”
Casket bearers were Harold Nelson, Wilbur Ray, Monte Adams, Ray Shupe, Roger Adams and Gary Beedle.
Interment was in the Sloan Cemetery, Sloan, Iowa, with arrangements by Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
