W. Gasser Dies at 74
Held Overseer of Poor Post for Ten YearsW.W. “Bill” Gasser, 74, 122 Rustin St., former overseer of the poor for the Woodbury County Welfare Department for 10 years, did early Monday at a Sioux City hospital following a long illness.
Mr. Gasser was born March 24, 1893, at Hull, Iowa. He Lived at Homer and South Sioux City before moving to Sioux City 46 years ago. On July 18, 1910, he married Ethel Parker at South Sioux City.Before he was overseer of the poor, Mr. Gasser operated an auto service station and was an employee of the City of Sioux City. He retired from his job with the county in December 1965.
Mr. Gasser was a member of the Rustin Avenue Methoidist Church, Landmark Lodge 103, AF&AM, Sioux City Scottish Rite Bodies, Abu Bekr Shrine Temple, honorary life member of Shrine Clowns, Isis Chapter 173, Order of Eastern Star, Teutonia Club and Boys of ’68.
Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Henry Asmussen of Deltona, Fla.; two brothers, Charles M. of Sioux City and Clarence of Suwanee, Florida; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Hendrick of Seymour, Iowa; a granddaughter, and a great-grandson.
The body was taken to the Nelson-Berger Northside Funeral Home.
