Funeral Services Held For Walter H. Mundt

Funeral services for Walter Henry Mundt, 69, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Moville and Climbing Hill, were held Wednesday, October 10, 1979 at 2:00 p.m. in St. John Lutheran Church at Climbing Hill. Vicar Alan Boeck of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Sioux City officiated. Interment was in Westfork Township Cemetery at Climbing Hill under the direction of the McCulloch Funeral Home of Moville.

Mrs. Alwayne Meyer and Mrs. Roger Martin sang “Abide With Me” and “I Know That My Redeemer Liveth.”

Casketbearers were Messrs. Ray Johnson, Darrel Krueger, Glenn Krueger, Loren Miller, Ernest Steffen and Marvin Steffen.

Mr. Mundt was born November 23, 1909, the son of Fred and Martha Saxon Mundt, in Ida County. He attended Woodbury County Schools.

He served in the 17th Infantry Regiment in the Army during World War II. He never married. He served as a hospital orderly at the Kansas University Medical Center for more than 20 years.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

Mr. Mundt died Sunday, October 7, 1979 at a medical center at Kansas City, Kansas.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Jake (Dora) Steffen of Moville and Mrs. Albert (Frieda) Krueger of Climbing Hill and one stepbrother, Lavern Quandt of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Henry.
