Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Freda W. Cooch
Freda W. Cooch, 92, of Climbing Hill died Saturday, February 11, 1995, at the Kingsley Nursing Home.
Services were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 1995 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Climbing Hill with the Rev. Glen Rachuy officiating. Burial was in Westfork Township Cemetery at Climbing Hill under the direction of the Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.
Jack Steinhoff, soloist, sang “In The Garden” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Laura Neldeberg was organist.
Casketbearers were Messrs. Robert Croxell, Lyle Groth, Alfred “Swede” Larsen, Mike Hannah, Greg Cooch and Dan Ray.
Mrs. Cooch was born January 29, 1903, in Cushing, the daughter of Henry and Seraphine (Bonn) Grefe. She graduated from Cushing High School and attended Morningside College for one year. She married Clarence A. Cooch November 4, 1922, in Sioux City. The couple moved to a farm near Climbing Hill in 1933. In 1971, they retired and moved into town. He died July 25, 1978.
Mrs. Cooch was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Dorcus Society of the church. She was a former member of the Altar Guild.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Drevs of Sioux City; a son, Clayton of Climbing Hill; and four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandson; two brothers; two sisters; a son-in-law, Kenneth Drevs and a daughter-in-law, Donna Jean Cooch.
