Funeral Services Held Monday For Ethel Lewis
Ethel Lewis, 88, of Bronson, died Friday, January 25, 1991, at a Correctionville, Iowa nursing home after a long illness.
Services were at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 28, 1991 at Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church in Bronson, with Dr. Robert E. Peters officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Christy Morningside Funeral Home in Sioux City.
Mrs. Lewis, the former Edith Cooley, was born June 22, 1902 in Salix, and was raised in the Salix and Sergeant Bluff areas. She married James R. Lewis October 8, 1919 in Sioux City, and moved to Bronson where she had resided since. James died November 3, 1966 in Carroll, Iowa. Ethel was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church, the church’s Ladies Aid Society, the Birthday Club and Royal Neighbors of America.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Loren and Virginia of Bronson; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lola and Eldon Arnold of Correctionville and Marjorie Kline of Carroll; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Lewis Wilson, of Las Vegas; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Harold, three brothers and a sister.
