Funeral Service Held For Former Resident

Funeral services for Rex R. McLarnan, 86, of Ames, Iowa and formerly of Moville, were held Thursday, January 17, 1991 at 1:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ames. Burial was in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Mr. McLarnan was born June 24, 1904 in Nashua to Chet and Margaret (Longhorn) McLarnan. The family moved to Moville in 1908. He graduated from Moville High School and Morningside College. He moved to Ames, Iowa in 1932 and was the owner and operator of McLarnan’s Upholstery Shop. He also worked for the Iowa Highway Commission for 20 years. On December 28, 1935, he married Dayle Wearin in Thurston, Nebraska. He was a member of First United Methodist Church; the Ames Elks Lodge; and the Ames Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife Dayle; one daughter, Sandra Plate of Fairfax, Virginia; two granddaughters; and three brothers, Mark of Sioux City, Paul of Phoenix, Arizona, and Howard of Moville.
