Funeral Services Held Monday For Gladys Wohlert
Gladys M. Wohlert, 91, of Bronson died Thursday, January 25, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 29, 1996 at the Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church in Bronson with the Rev. Robert E. Peters of the church officiating. Burial was in Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City, under the direction of Christy, Smith & Hockenberry Morningside Funeral Home in Sioux City.
Don Dukes, soloist, sang “How Great Thou Art” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Jane Cain was organist.
Casketbearers were Messrs, Paul Niemeier, Chuck Widman, Kenneth Palm, John Schlotman, Jon Dukes and Noel Plummer.
Mrs. Wohlert, the former Gladys Couch, was born December, 25, 1904, in Elgin, Nebraska, the daughter of James and Cora (Amick) Couch. She moved to Sioux City when she was about 4. She married Carl Wohlert June 1, 1940, in LeMars. He died December 11, 1985, in Sioux City. The couple moved to Lawton, Iowa in 1941, and then to Bronson in 1954.
Mrs. Wohlert was a homemaker and member of the Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Aid Society.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Donald and Jan of Bronson; two grandchildren, Greg and Gail Wohlert; a sister, Dorothy Robertson of Stockton, California; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Carrie Couch, Goldie Palm and Jewel Garnhart; and two brothers, Raymond and Earl.
Memorial may be given in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association, Big Sioux Chapter.
