SIOUX CITY -- James Tuton, 85, of Sioux City passed away Friday, March 5, 2010, at Touchstone Living Center.

Per James' wishes, his body will be cremated, and there will be no services. His family will have a graveside celebration of his life at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. James was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., the son of Vern and Linetta (DeForce) Tuton. Jim came to Sioux City in 1934 with his parents and a sister, Shirley. He attended Irving Elementary School, Woodrow Wilson Junior High School and graduated from Central High School.

Jim married Lola M. Saumweber on Feb. 24, 1943, in Sioux City. To this union three children were born, James E., Leslie V. and Sara Linn Belle. During this time James was serving his country in the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to Sioux City in 1946.

After a period of time going to NBT School, he held several positions in various businesses in Sioux City. He moved to Omaha, Neb., in 1965, where he married Jeanne Fleck on Feb. 19, 1965. He worked in various office positions in Omaha until his return to Sioux City in 1972. He then again held various office positions in Sioux City. His second wife, Jeanne passed away on June 6, 1975. Sometime later he met Phyllis Fahey, and they lived together until her death in November 2000.

He is survived by his sons, James (Paulette) of Spencer, Iowa, and Leslie (LaDonna) of Dilworth, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; a daughter; second wife; special friend; granddaughter, Anita; and two grandsons, Daniel and Shannon.
