SIOUX CITY -- Lorena V. "Rena" Attrill, 88, of Sioux City passed away May 19, 2010, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., with Chaplain Jocquelyn Girdner officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Rena was born Dec. 1, 1921, in Oto, Iowa, to James and Gladys (Stull) Bales. She grew up in Sioux City. She married Leonard Attrill in 1941. He died May 28, 1960, in Hinton, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple lived and farmed in the Merrill, Iowa, area. After Leonard passed away, Rena moved to Sioux City with her four children. Rena owned and operated Rena's Sportswear and Lettering for 39 years, the success of which she gratefully attributed to her loyal customers.

Rena enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her "angels" (grandchildren) and "G.G.'s" (great-grandchildren). Feeling closest to God in her garden, she lovingly tended her flowers as a means to rejuvenate her spirit and so that others might enjoy her love of nature.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Fincham and her husband, Don of Pratt, Kan., and Donna Martinson of South Sioux City; a brother, Donald Bales and his wife, Rose of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Lane Gutz, Kerry Driscoll, Tiffany Meek, Dawn Martinson, Stacy Lundahl, Shelley Perales, Sheldon Martinson and Nikki Martinson; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Garland Attrill; a daughter, Linda Kirsch; two sisters, Bernice Iverson and Delores Bell; a brother, James "Lee" Bales; and a grandson, Alonso Martinson.

Pallbearers will be Gary Bales, Don Bales Jr., Steve Bales, Mark Bales, Sheldon Martinson and Brad Gutz. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Fincham, Ryan Driscoll, Jack Breedlove, Sean Meek, Beckett Bell, Rusty Bell and Josh Lundahl.

Memorials may be made in Rena's name to Boys Club of Sioux City and Girls Club Inc.
