Funeral Services Held Thurs. For Wayne Etler

Wayne A. Etler, 73, of Anthon died Sunday, October 15, 1989 in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday October 19, 1989 in United Methodist Church in Anthon with Rev. Joe-d Dowling Soka officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Walter Funeral Home in Anthon.

A Masonic service was held Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Message in music; Lamona Welte, organist, Janice Schnaible and Rene Goodwin, duet.

Casket bearers were grandchildren; Mark, Brett and Darryn Huffman, Chad, Denise, Beth, Patrick and Luke Etler, Kim Huffman Graves.

Mr. Etler was born January 1, 1916, in Grant Township, Woodbury County, near Anthon. He married Frances Drossel October 2, 1937, in Elk Point, South Dakota. He was a lifelong area farmer.

Mr. Etler was a member of United Methodist Church in Anthon and Cerulean Masonic Lodge 550 AF&AM of Anthon. He served on the board of trustees of Grant Township and on the election board. He was a past school board director in Kedron Township. Survivors include his wife, Frances; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Karen) Huffman of Sioux City; two sons, James of Kremmling, Colorado, and Larry of Moville; a brother, Robert of Anthon; nine grandchildren and two great granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ralph.
