Funeral Services Held Monday For Hilburn Steffe Sr.

Funeral services for Hilburn Charles Steffe, Sr. 85, of Hinton, were held Monday December 28, 1992 at 10:30 a.m. at the Moville United Methodist Church. Rev. Orrin T. Potter officiated. Interment was in Arlington Township Cemetery, Moville, under the direction of the McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.

A duet of Vicki Steffe and Michelle Cross sang, “Amazing Grace,” “The Lords Prayer” and “How Great Thou Art.” Mrs. Dee Etta Riley was organist.

Honorary casket bearers were Messrs. Ron Taylor, Troy Smouse, Brad and Marty Lau, Brandon, Eric and Jason Steffe.

Casket bearers were Messrs. Ron Lau, Greg, Steve and Danny Steffe and Dirl Steffe, Jr.

Mr. Steffe was born September 27, 1907, in rural Moville, son of Leslie and Bessie Mae (Wright) Steffe. He married Alys Lucille Hane August 15, 1925. They lived and worked in the Moville/Salix area for several years, then farmed around Moville until 1961. They were in Milford until the purchase of their farm Spirit Lake in 1965. He retired in 1972 and moved to Hinton in 1982.

He was a member of Moville United Methodist Church.

Mr. Steffe died Friday December 25, 1992 in a Sioux City hospital. He had suffered from heart ailment for some time.

Survivors include his wife; six sons, five with spouses, Hilburn Jr. and Mary, David N and Joyce, all of Sioux City, Harlan E. and Fairy of Moville, Dirl H and Shirley of Chadron, Nebraska, Leslie P. and Marilyn of Anthens, Georgia and Steven P. Steffe of Plainview, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Duane (Beth N.) Lau of Correctionville, and Lisa L Smouse of Sioux City; two sisters, Kate Wiltse of Pisgah, Iowa and Maxine Kuchel of Kingsley; 27 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Robinson; two brothers, Carl and Kenneth Steffe; a granddaughter, Heather Steffe, and a great\granddaughter, Mariah Johnson.
