Moville, Iowa—Robert T. Bramson, 69, retired editor and owner of The Moville Record, died Friday, July 28, 1989, at the Methodist Medical Center in Houston, Texas, due to complications following surgery.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, the Rev. Roger Semmler officiating. Burial will be in the Kingsley Cemetery under the direction of McCulloch Funeral Home of Moville.

Mr. Bramson was born May 8, 1920 in Correctionville, son of Edward and Byrdie (Groom) Bramson. He was a lifelong resident of the Moville and Pierson communities. He graduated from the Pierson Consolidated School in 1937 and later attended the School of Science at Whapeton, N.D. He married Joy Rieckmann Jan. 1, 1947, at Salem Lutheran Church in Correctionville. He assumed editorship of the Pierson Progress in 1937, becoming the state’s youngest editor. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as an aviation machinist and celestial navigator. He operated the Pierson Progess until Nov. 1, 1957, when he purchased The Moville Record and combined the two papers. He published The Moville Record until he retired in 1974. His newspapers won 13 general excellence awards for small town newspapers publishing. He was past president of the Interstate Editorial Association.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was past president of the church council. He was past president of the Moville Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Wink-Sparks American Legion Post 303 in Moville.

Survivors include his wife, Joy; two sons, Dr. James Bramson of Wheaton, Ill., and Steven Bramson of Toronto, Ontario; a sister, Mrs. Everett (Gloria) Vannorsdel of Nevada, Iowa and three grandsons.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Bethel; and a brother, David.
