Former Area Woman Dies in Car Crash

Jefferson, Iowa—Mrs. John (Elizabeth Joan) Millis, 43, of Cedar Rapids, a former Sergeant Bluff resident, died Saturday night when the car she was driving swerved off U.S. 30 six miles west of here.

Two of her children, Shawn and Eric were uninjured in the crash.

The Iowa Highway Patrol said Mrs. Millis swerved to avoid colliding with a car driven by Dennis D. Taggart, 16, of Scranton.

Taggert had slowed to make a turn. The Millis car went off the road and down a steep embankment, according to the Highway Patrol. She was dead at the scene.

Survivors include her widower; three sons, David, Shawn and Eric, all of Cedar Rapids; a grandchild; her mother, Mrs. Lloyd Fymbo of Sergeant Bluff; three sisters, Mrs. Bruce (Ann) Morrison of Sergeant Bluff, Mrs. Connie Wylder of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Dixon (Linda) Terry of Radcliffe; and a brother, Dr. Steven Fymbo of Sergeant Bluff.
