Funeral Services Held Monday For Leo L Loftus

Funeral services for Leo L. Loftus, 79, of Lawton, were held Monday April 9, 1990 at 10:00 a.m. in the Lawton Community Presbyterian Church with Dr. Robert E. Peters officiating. Interment was in the Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton, under the direction of the McCulloch Funeral Home of Moville.

Lorna Peters, soloist, sang “How Great Thou Art” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Ruth Foster was organist.

Honorary Casket bearers were Messrs. Larry Herfel, Burdette Pilcher, Lloyd Lighthall, Art Wilson, George Coker, Harold Robinson, Francis Eberly, Dwight Haskins, Irvin Ludwig and Martin Jansen.

Casket bearers were Messrs. Judy R. Brown, Alicia Hoover, Kevin, Donald, Douglas, Tim, Kenton and Kirk Loftus.

Mr. Loftus was born August 30, 1910, At Doon, Iowa. He moved to Sioux City in 1918 and lived on a farm in Concord Township. He attended Sioux City public schools. He married Mary Elizabeth Patrick June 27, 1936, at Vermillion, South Dakota. He was a farmer.

He was a member of Community Presbyterian Church, where he was an ordained deacon.

Mr. Loftus died Thursday April 5, 1990 in a Sioux City hospital of brief illness.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, James of SIoux City, Jay and Donald of Kelso, Washington, William of Ft. Worth, Texas and Robert of Las Vegas, Nevada; a daughter, Judith Arlene Loftus of Sioux City; a sister, Inez Loros of Marshalltown, Iowa, 16 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Tracy and a son, John Arthur.
