Alfred E. Tague, 76, of Sioux City died Saturday, May 21, 2005, at a Sioux City nursing home.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Brodersen officiating. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery at Climbing Hill, Iowa.

Alfred E. Tague was born Sept. 26, 1928, in Climbing Hill, Iowa, the son of Clyde and Mabel Gertrude (Vermilyea) Tague. He attended school in the Climbing Hill area.

He was united in marriage to Norma T. Flynn on March 25, 1952, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City. The couple moved to Bronson, Iowa, in 1952. They then lived in Lawton, Iowa from 1958 to 1993, when they moved to Sioux City. Mrs. Tague passed away on Aug. 25, 2002, in Sioux City. Mr. Tague was a farmer for the majority of his life. He was also employed with Western Iowa Tech from 1985 to 1994.

He enjoyed reading westerns, animals, being a Cubs fan, gatherings with family and friends and being a season ticket holder for the Explorers.

Survivors include five daughters, Elizabeth (Tague) and her husband, Tom Slaven, Patricia (Tague) and her husband, Bill Denzer, Nancy (Tague) and her husband, Francis Baker and Kathleen (Tague) and her husband, Doug Stanek, all of Sioux City, and Marilyn Tague of Sioux City and her fiance, Brian Bond of Battle Creek, Iowa; a son and his wife, James and Susan Tague of Lawton, Iowa; grandchildren, Michael Vennard, Stacey Vennard, Jeremy Baker, Amanda Stanek, Ryan Stanek, Cassie Stanek, Jennifer Tague, Nicholas Tague, Heather Cook and Holly Cook; and a brother, Glenn Tague of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma; two brothers, Carroll Tague and Oliver Tague; and a sister, Louise Dyer.

Pallbearers will be Bill Denzer, Doug Stanek, Francis Baker, Tom Slaven, Brian Bond and Mike Vennard. Honorary pallbearers will be Lyle Morgan, Leonard Beaver, Randy Beaver, Kenny Schieuer, Marshall Ferdig and Leonard Cassens.
