KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Lucille Irene Michener, 96, of Kingsley died Sunday, June 4, 2006 at Kingsley, Nursing & Rehab Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Climbing Hill with the Rev. James D. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill, under the direction of Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel, Moville, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Lucille was born Jan. 23, 1910 in Wenathee, Wash., the daughter of Clifford Earl and Melvina (Hummel) Taylor. She moved with her family in 1911 to Climbing Hill and stayed in the area all of her life. She was united in marriage to Elza Fremont Michener on June 27, 1932, in Dakota City, Neb. After their marriage, they moved to the farm west of Climbing Hill for four years and then moved to the farm three miles east of Climbing Hill until 1978 when they moved to Moville.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Climbing Hill. She also taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Moville Women's Club and president of the P.T.A. group for three years. She enjoyed canning, gardening, playing the Spite & Malice card game, the Woodbury County Fair, flowers, reading, and volunteering at the Moville Senior Center.

Survivors include her husband Elza of Kingsley; a son Ron and his wife Carolyn Michener of Anthon, Iowa; two granddaughters, Ann Hardy and her husband Jay of Redwood City, Calif. and Kim Michener-Emami and her husband Mo of Fort Collins, Colo.; and three great-grandchildren, Farrah Emami, Zoya Emami and Joa Emami.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Gary and his wife Janet Michener, and three sisters.

Pallbearers will be Nick Kohlhof, Charles Holst, Kenneth Schieuer, Fidell Wadsworth, Robert Logan and Gene Krueger.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sandy Holst, Carolyn Sulsberger, Betty Ferdig, Florice Cassens, Janet Goodrich, Lorraine Scott and Lea Yepsen.

Memorials may be directed to Moville Community Center and Library and the Moville Senior Center.
