MCCOOK LAKE, S.D. -- Marguerite Elizabeth Kobs, 89, of McCook Lake, formerly of Anthon, Iowa, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, in Elk Point, S.D.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at McCook Lake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Merrill G. Muller officiating. Burial will be in the Westfork Township Cemetery in Climbing Hill, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith Berkemeier Chapel.

Mrs. Kobs was born March 9, 1913, in Anthon, the daughter of Louis and Grace (Jones) Fey. She was raised in Anthon. She graduated from Anthon High School and continued her education at Buena Vista, receiving a teaching certificate. After her education, she taught at area country schools for nine years until her marriage in 1941 to Walter "Jake" Kob. He died in June 1972. In 1974, she moved to McCook Lake to be closer to her daughter.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Paulette and Robert Streeter of McCook Lake; a son and his wife, Darrell and Sheilla Kobs of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister and her husband, Mae Maurene and George Sargent of Anthon; seven grandchildren, Terry and his wife, Paula Streeter, Darian Streeter and his special friend, Ruth, Kyle and his wife, Tracey Streeter, Danyel Berjord, Crystal Kobs, Rachael Kobs and Collet; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Jon; and three brothers, Arnold, Frank and Paul.
