Oren W. "Bud" Jones, 83, of Sioux City died Monday, June 3, 2002, at a Sioux City retirement home following an extended illness.

Memorial services for Bud and his wife, Elaine, who died May 23, 2002, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Don Craig of Central Baptist Church officiating.

Bud was born Dec. 11, 1918, in Bronson, Iowa, to Oren W. and Treaty (Ritcha) Jones Sr. He attended school in Bronson and graduated from Bronson High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Florence Elaine Monroe on Jan. 31, 1942, in Sioux City. He was employed with Sioux City Lincoln Mercury, where he started as a mechanic and later became a salesman. He held that position for 25 years, retiring in 1983. During his sales career, he was recognized many times as Sioux City Salesman of the Year and received many sales awards.

He was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church and served as a lay pastor at North Sioux City Baptist Church. He was a member of the Gideon's and a volunteer at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center.

He is survived by a son and his wife, Timothy and Myla of Bellevue, Neb.; a daughter and her husband, Judy and Ronald Dykhouse of Mountain Home, Ark.; two grandsons and their wives, Jason and Ellen Nasvick-Dykhouse and Jans and Jennifer Wright-Dykhouse; two great-grandchildren, Beckett and Fynn; and a sister, Emily Mead of Spencer, Iowa.

He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Nola, Ruth, Vesta and Violet; and a brother, Wesley.

Memorials in his name may be directed to the Gideon's.

Buried- West Fork Cemetery- Climbing Hill, Iowa
