MOVILLE, Iowa -- Michael Anthony Cox, Ph.D., of Orlando, Fla., formerly of the Moville area, was called by the Lord, Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, in Orlando.

Services were held at First Baptist Church in Winter Park, Fla. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill, Iowa, with the Rev. James Wilson of Climbing Hill Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City.

Michael Anthony Cox, Ph.D., was born March 21, 1952. He had a wonderful, diverse and exciting life. Besides his rich and fulfilling marriage to his wife, Iola, he enjoyed immensely raising his sons. They had the opportunity to live in many varied locations around the world. They spent time in New Zealand and lived four years in Vancouver, Canada. They were planning to reside in the United Kingdom until his illness forced a change of plans.

He was a leader in technology and business, starting companies that specialized in computer training for out-placed workers. He started one of the first online universities, Rushmore University, offering advanced business degrees to students around the world.

The couple shared a deep faith with their children. Active in the First Baptist Church of Winter Park, Fla., their fellow members were a rock of support during his illness.

He will be long remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and a leader in business and his community.

Survivors include his wife, Iola (Turner) Cox; three sons, Christopher Ryan, Caleb Reagan and Joshua Michael; three siblings, John (Sarah), Douglas and Leslie; and four nieces.
