SERGEANT BLUFF -- Lyle K. Davis, 79, of Osmond, Neb., formerly of Sergeant Bluff, passed to be with his Lord Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at Osmond General Hospital following a brief illness.

Private family memorial services will be held. Private family graveside services will be in Westfork Cemetery, Climbing Hill, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Osmond.

Lyle K. Davis was born May 18, 1930, in Sergeant Bluff, the son of John C. and Jenna (Baldwin) Davis. He attended high school through the tenth grade.

He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Scott on June 12, 1949, in Sergeant Bluff. He was a meat cutter by trade. He worked in grocery stores, taught meat cutting at Western Iowa Tech Community College from 1966 to 1972. He owned the locker plant in Crofton, Neb., from 1972 to 1980. Later years, he and his wife managed mobile home parks in California. They retired to Branson, Mo., moving back to Osmond in June 2007, to be closer to family.

He was of the Baptist faith. His hobby was collecting International toy tractors.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Davis; four sons and their wives, Gary and Judy of Portland, Ore., Donald and Sharon of Salina, Kan., Ronald and Judy of Gregory, S.D., and Craig and Paula of Plainview, Neb.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Leo Davis and his wife, Barbara of Branson, Mo., and Roger Davis of Evans, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; three sisters; and a grandson.
