CLIMBING HILL, Iowa -- Teri M. Cassens-Gill, 49, formerly of the Climbing Hill area, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at her home in Falls Church, Va. following a 14-month battle with ovarian cancer.

Services were held June 26, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Springfield, Va. Graveside memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill. There will be a luncheon following the graveside services at St. John's Lutheran Church in Climbing Hill.

Teri was born Jan. 26, 1954, in Sioux City, to Raymond and Carole Cassens. She grew up in the rural Climbing Hill area and attended Woodbury Central Community School, graduating in 1972.

She moved to Virginia in 1974 to work for the FBI. in Washington, D.C. She later worked for the law firm Surrey and Morse, leaving there to work for O'Melveny and Myers Law Firm in Washington D.C. as a legal secretary for the past 17 years. She married David Gill in November 1981.

She had many interests, including traveling, knitting, photography, art, movies, the theater and cats. She participated in the Avon 60 mile Breast Cancer Walk in the spring of 2000, and enjoyed knitting hats to donate to cancer patients.

Survivors left to cherish her memory include her loving mate, Steve; a son, Nicholas; a daughter, Amanda; her mother, Carole; a brother, Randy; a sister and her husband, Lori and Clark; a niece, Carly; and two nephews, Jacob and Joseph.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond.
