Florence Elizabeth Carrell, 83, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. James Pointer officiating. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Carrell was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Big Timber, Mont., the daughter of Howard and Alice (Pool) Roush. She was raised in the Crescent, Iowa area.

She married Robert C. Carrell on Dec. 16, 1936, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple farmed in Woodbury County for 50 years. Mr. Carrell passed away March 24, 1996, in Sioux City. She had been a resident of Countryside Retirement for over six years.

She was a member of Morningside Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed vacationing, the mountains, gardening, flowers and watching birds. She especially enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Survivors include her eight children, Marvin Carrell of Sioux City, Joyce and her husband, Phillip Sanderson, of Moville, Iowa, Arlene Plummer of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Roy Carrell and his wife, Patty, of Sioux City, Bonnie and her husband, Alex Johnson, of Climbing Hill, Iowa, Sharen and her husband, Bill Leaverton, of Sioux City, Karen and her husband, Ken Snyder, of Sioux City and Barb and her husband, Les Larson, of Oto, Iowa; a sister, Louise Morrison of Spokane, Wash.; a brother and his wife, Everett and Clair Roush of Colville, Wash.; 19 grandchildren; 60, great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and three grandsons.

Pallbearers will be Cheryl Andrews, Sheri Capron, Jessie Carrell, Mandy Carrell, Chris Lambertson and Keri Tope.
