Anthon, Iowa—Catherine L. Finzen, 91, of Anthon died Thursday, January 31, 1991 at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Anthon, with the Rev. Gerald Zensen officiating. Burial will be in Mount St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A vigil service will be at 7:30 today at Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon, followed by a service by American Legion Auxiliary McNiff Unit 389 and Catholic Daughters of America rosary.

Mrs. Finzen was born April 28, 1899, at Linton, N.D., the daughter of Joseph and Magdalena (Vetter) Bosch. She grew up in the Linton community. On August 13, 1916, she married George Finzen at Lemmon, S.D. The couple lived at Rock Rapids and Correctionville before moving to Anthon in 1928. He died June 24, 1965. She had lived at nursing homes in Sioux City the last five years.

Mrs. Finzen was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St Joseph Ladies Guild, Catholic Daughters of America and American Legion Auxiliary, all of Anthon.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, George Jr. and Bernice, and Donald and Ona, all of Sioux City and James and Helen of Holstein; five daughters and their husbands, Patsy and Robert Tyrner of Redding, California, Ruth and Bing Hall of Correctionville, Mary Jane and Howard Santelar of Scottsdale, Ariz., Suzanne and Glenn Petersen of Marcus and JoAnn and Lyle Groth of Climbing Hill; a daughter-in-law, Delores Duffy of Cedar Rapids; two sisters and their husbands, Clara and LeRoy Collette and Lena and Bill Gilson, all of Fargo, N.D.; 29 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, William; a daughter, Frances McNamara; a grandson, Calvin; six brothers and two sisters.
